BIOGRAPHY / HISTORY
Established in 2015, The Thick has been playing together since High School. What started as playing hard rock at house parties and practicing in basements quickly became something much more creative and special. Fast forward 9 years and The Thick is headlining highly attended shows in Toronto venues and Canada-wide, regularly drawing crowds of 200+ to prominent venues such as Lee’s Palace, Adelaide Hall, and more. Two EP’s, a full length LP, and numerous singles all released independently. In 2025 The Thick debuted on rock radio 81.1 MAX FM. Their new single at the time “Bow Now Now” was aired multiple times throughout the month of May receiving a great response from listeners across Ontario. Last year, The Thick was one of the top 4 finalists for Tall Pines Festival’s Battle for the Big Stage. They continue to be regular performers at the NXNE music festival. The Thick has supported touring bands such as Fionn from Vancouver and King Falcon from Manhattan. The Thick continues to work with Juno winning and Grammy nominated mastering engineer João Carvalho (Sloan, Alexisonfire, Death from Above 1979). Their projects are recorded out of pro studios; TA2 Sound + Music, and Goldstandard. For their newest four singles, The Thick collaborated with Juno nominated album art designer Gabriel Altrows (Good Kid).
Prepared to release their second full length studio LP, this new era of Thick is heavier and harder. The Thick pays tribute to influences Cage The Elephant, White Stripes, Wolfmother, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. The angst, attitude, and non-existent fear of being pathetic that encourages the vibe of these bands inspires us and our attitude as an underground rock band emerging in the industry, showing up for our region, becoming more creative and confident as we go, having a sound & look, and pushing the music further.
2025 / 2026 RELEASES
The Thick is gearing up to release its 2nd full length studio LP. In anticipation of the full album drop they've released 4 singles that capture their sound and attitude. “Mongoose”, “Bow Now Now”, “Monkey On My Back”, and most recently “Red Hand”.
Each single was released with a pro music video, a packed release concert, and an extensive socials campaign that grew their online reach and amassed over 100k views on YouTube, and 100K views across socials. The Thick has been able to build their world, and create connections everywhere. Not only with other bands in their scene but with visual designers, videographers, sound and lighting techs, etc. These collaborations have caught the attention of Juno and Grammy winning rock producers around the world. The best is still to come, we are having so much fun, and we cannot wait to release the entire full LP in early 2026.
